The National Police Service (NPS) has issued an urgent public alert dismissing a widely circulated police recruitment poster as fake.

A document doing rounds on social media, claiming to announce the recruitment of Police Constables across various counties, has been flagged as false by the NPS.

The counterfeit notice, styled to mimic official government communication, falsely claims that the recruitment exercise will take place on Thursday, 8th May 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at designated sub-county recruitment centers nationwide.

The fake poster lists detailed “Entry Requirements” including:

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen and hold a valid Kenyan ID.
  • Must possess a minimum mean grade of D+ (Plus) in KCSE.
  • Must be physically fit and of good character.
  • Must be aged between 18 and 28 years.
  • Must have no criminal record.

It even warns applicants that canvassing, falsifying documents, or engaging in corrupt practices could lead to automatic disqualification and prosecution.

The fraudulent document also emphasizes the need for gender balance and diversity and even provides official-looking website links for downloading application forms, including:

The NPS clarified that this recruitment poster is not an authentic communication from the service. The fake notice includes a comprehensive list of recruitment centers and sub-counties across counties like Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera, giving the appearance of a legitimate nationwide police recruitment drive.

The National Police Service is urging members of the public to disregard the fraudulent notice and always verify recruitment announcements via the official NPS website or their verified social media handles.

In addition, the NPS warned Kenyans that under Section 25 of the National Police Service Commission Act, any person found giving false or misleading information to the Commission will face legal action including a fine not exceeding Ksh 200,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years — or both.
