A 24-year-old man is set to face defilement charges after being found in the company of a Form Three student from Nkuene Girls High School. The student, who had been missing for eight days, was discovered in Gikumene, Meru County, following a tip-off from neighbors.
The girl disappeared on January 8 while in Nkubu town, leaving her parents distressed and searching desperately. Their search came to an end late last night when police located the student at the man’s residence.
The suspect is alleged to have spent eight days and nights with the minor, an act that has left the local community in shock. Authorities arrested the man and transferred the girl back to her family.
