A new opportunity has emerged for students across Kenya as the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service officially reopens applications for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) programmes for the 2026 intake. The announcement, part of the “2nd KMTC Course Revision 2026,” offers a crucial second chance for thousands of applicants who were previously unsuccessful or wish to revise their course selections.

According to the update, a total of 21 KMTC courses are now available on the KUCCPS portal. Students are encouraged to log in via the official platform (students.kuccps.ac.ke) and complete their applications before the strict deadline of April 3, 2026. The application window officially opened on March 28, 2026, giving candidates only a limited timeframe to act.

This latest revision is particularly significant as it targets a wide pool of applicants, including Form Four leavers from as far back as 2000 up to 2025. This inclusivity ensures that individuals who may have missed previous opportunities still have a chance to pursue careers in the healthcare sector. It also allows unsuccessful applicants from earlier KUCCPS placements to reapply and improve their chances of securing admission.

KMTC remains one of the most competitive institutions in Kenya due to its reputation for producing highly skilled healthcare professionals. Courses such as nursing, clinical medicine, public health, and pharmacy are among the most sought-after, often attracting a large number of applicants every year. With only limited slots available, competition is expected to be intense during this second application round.

Education experts are advising students to carefully review the available courses and their respective minimum requirements before submitting their applications. Strategic selection of programmes—based on one’s academic performance and interests—can significantly improve the likelihood of placement.

The reopening of KMTC applications reflects the growing demand for trained healthcare professionals both in Kenya and internationally. With the healthcare sector continuing to expand, KMTC graduates are increasingly finding employment opportunities in hospitals, clinics, and global health organizations.

For many young Kenyans, this is more than just an application—it is a chance to build a stable and impactful career. Missing this opportunity could mean waiting another year or longer, making it critical for eligible candidates to act quickly.

With the clock ticking toward the April 3 deadline, all qualified applicants are urged to seize this chance, log into the KUCCPS portal, and submit their applications without delay. This could be the turning point toward a rewarding future in the medical field.
