Former Mukurueni Mp Kabando Wakabando has recalled days when they were expelled from the University of Nairobi.
He says they were expelled for launching students opinion in 1992 to lobby for Students Organization National Union SONU revival.
Kabando says Nation Africa, Standard Media KTN are among those who stood by their side and eventually won against Moi.
“We were being expelled @uonbi for launching Student Opinion (STOP) 1992 to lobby SONU revival, but patriotic lawyers, @thekhrc & media @KTNNewsKE @NationAfrica @StandardKenya who stood with us.”
“We won against Moi. Nation, Society & Standard dedicated acres of pages for our cause.” Said Kabando Wa Kabando.
Kabando, described the trade CS Moses Kuria attack on Nation Media Group as unfortunate utterances which are regrettably.
“So, on behalf of SONU’92 cabinet – few of whom I’ve just consulted – regrets on unfortunate utterances of CS Moses Kuria (SONU’92 colleague) against @NationMediaGrp. Not talked since that day I was MC at his homecoming-thanksgiving prayers Feb 2022, Thika. I’ll seek him out.”
Kabando detailed that Media freedom is paramount and any aggrieved party should find a better way to protest.
“As unwritten “rule” we ‘comrades’ never correct or admonish one another publicly. But aware, and appreciating how ‘THE BLACKBOARD’ on Saturday Nation defended our SONU’92 cause, there’s definitely a better way to protest and/correct if one is aggrieved. Media freedoms sacrosanct.”
