Homa Bay MP’s fate after receiving sh. 200K to authorize petrol station pump.

On Monday, 27 March 2023, 9am, Milimani Anti-Corruption Court (Hon P. Ooko, SPM) will deliver judgement on whether or not former Bonchari MP & ex-Director General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is guilty as charged; the ethics and Anti- corruption Commisson reports.

In a statement via twitter, to the EACC details that the former MP was charged with receiving Kes. 200K bribe in order to authorise the unsealing and opening of a filling station in Homa Bay county which had been closed for non-compliance with regulations.

“The Homabay filling station had been fined Kes.309K by KRA, which was paid and the complainant issued with a clearance letter to take to EPRA to authorize opening. Oimeke, then EPRA Director General, allegedly demanded Kes200K ‘facilitation fee’ in order to open the station.” EACC stated.

In the second count, EACC note that the former legislator was charged that on December 2, 2020, being a person employed by the Energy and Petroleum Regulator Authority as Director General, requested a financial advantage of Sh500,000 from a trader via Signal private messenger app.
