The police IG Japheth Koome has urged Kenyans to go to work tomorrow, a day Azimio picked for protest.
In a statement to the press, the inspector of police noted that tomorrow, the 27th Monday should be business as usual and the police shall ensure security is maintained following the planned Azimio demonstrations.
Koome also detailed that police has details of planned violence in tomorrow’s protest and that they will arrest anyone who is armed.
“We have heard others say that they will bring violence in Nairobi tomorrow. Nothing of the sort will happen because the police are ready to ensure there’s peace in the country. Anyone armed with offensive weapons will be arrested.” Said IG Koome.
Koome further warned politician to after him instead of intimidating his junior officers.
“Don’t intimidate my junior officers. I am the Inspector General of the National Police Service… the buck stops with me…” said Koome.
Koome advised Odinga not to destroy the country for the sake of future generations.
“I am an old man; I have enjoyed my life. Why would I want to destroy this country for the future generation because of selfish interests?”
