The police officer, the father of one of the victims of the Mukumu Girls food poisoning tragedy, shot self to death Sunday evening at his home in the Siala Kaduol police station in Gem, Siaya district.
Officer Maurice Tillison Chisihavy was on duty when he committed suicide with his own weapon.
The incident was confirmed by Gem County Police Chief Cecilia Kemboi.
“He shot himself in the jaw and the bullet went over his head and killed him instantly,” Kamboi said.
Kembo noted that the deceased, before his death could have bee be disturbed.
Kemboi tole the star that the man does drink and that they thought he would have killed himself only if he is worried.
The police chief also noted that the deceased was concerned when the food poisoning of Mukumu’s girl in Kakamega became known.
Kembo detailed that the last few days have taken a toll on him.
Kemboi said his daughter was out of danger and was subsequently released from the hospital in Kisumu before returning to Kakamega.
The investigation into the true motives of the alleged suicide has been launched.
