DCI breaks silence on Alshabaab planned attack on the city.

The Director of Criminal Investigation DCI has weighed in the alleged attack on the Nairobi City by Alshabaab terrorists.

In a statement to the press, the DCI termed the viral social media reports at fake.

“This report doing rounds in sections of the media is FAKE NEWS.” DCI captionned the reports allegedly from National Police Service.

According to viral social media reports, AlShabaab plan to conduct terror attacks within Nairobi before the end of August 2023 and in September 2023 targeting bases of Western troops in Kenya as well as hotels and social places frequented by Western diplomats in Nairobi.

The armed attackers, it had been reported, is believed to be already in Nairobi, plan to detonate suicide vests reinforced with sporadic shooting in crowded places and/or targeted areas.

“Noteworthy, hotels frequented by foreigners, embassies, international schools, vital government installations, and social places such as malls remain vulnerable.” Read the report.

Adding: “there is need for heightened security vigilance, enhanced screening into vital installations and social places across the City to forestall likely attacks by terror elements.”
