Political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi has explained why the Azimio La Umoja boss Raila Amolo Odinga has legitimised Ruto’s presidency.
In his statement, Ngunyi noted that by agree to handshake offered by the first in command, Odinga recognised the legitimacy of Ruto’s presidency.
He remarked that the duo should negotiate with clean hands and Odinga should allow president Ruto to work.
“Bipartisan talks EQUAL this: Ruto has offered a HANDSHAKE to Raila. And by agreeing to TALK, Raila has recognised the LEGITIMACY of Ruto’s Presidency. The two MUST negotiate with CLEAN hands. And Raila should allow Ruto to go BACK to WORK.Talks shouldn’t be MAANDAMANO version 2.0,” said Ngunyi.
Source close to K47 said “Maandamano were about 4 items, Ruto is giving out only 1 item only 1 and also that one item in half as he says the bipartisan talks will be about reconstituting the IEBC and no Cherera 4 are coming back! The rest is just a game!”
According to reports, Ruto is playing Odinga because he said clearly that any discussion must be, “within the constraints of the Constitution”, meaning, it’s either through parliament, where he has an upper hand as he has majority in both houses…” Baba can’t back out now, he is a fixed man politically and internationally.”
