In a viral social media video, a kid, identified as Titus Ondari Omwenga aged 9, a Grade 4 pupil at Riang’ombe Boarding in Esise, Borabu was allegedly assaulted by his teacher.
According to a reports, the young man was reportedly given 107 strokes of canes for not being in school uniform on Sunday.
According to one Abuka Makori, who shared the information on his twitter account, the boy was badly injured and cannot sit or walk well.
“The teacher who ASSAULTED him has been identified as Jackson Marucha. Sources say he hid the boy in a dormitory until fellow pupils leaked the information to a passerby. He was beaten again on Monday for being late to class. He’s admitted at Nyamira Referral Hospital.” Says Abuka Makori is a post.
The institution is found at the periphery of Borabu Constituency. Cases of corporal punishments and caning are still rampant in Kisii and Nyamira schools. “Infact, teachers do not even care the age of students. I call upon the police to arrest this rogue teacher immediately.”
“The family, which has reached out to me, wants instance justice for their kid. Riang’ombe Boarding School is a public institution and the teacher, one Mr. Marucha, is being paid by taxpayers money. Injustices to anyone, is injustice to all.” Makori statement read.

Makori added that corporal punishment is outlawed under the Basic Education Act 2012 and the Children’s act of the Laws of Kenya. “He will be charged and convicted. And action must be taken immediately. I am ready to lead police there.”
