The Kenya Kwanza, led by Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa has expressed dissatisfaction in a manner in which Azimio has chosen on the Bi-partisan talks.
Kenya Kwanza team accuses the Azimio of not being sincere with what they had agreed earlier. According to Ichungwa, the former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obsanjo had stated that no team in the Bi-partisan talks should mention him in any public statement.
Ichungwa accuses Azimio of not respecting the request.
“The Kenya Kwanza Coalition wishes to state the following;- That honouring the request by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo not to be mentioned in any public statement, we regret the
lack of decency by Azimio in not respecting this request.” Said Ichungwa in a statement seen by K47 digital news team.
Ichungwa pointed out that Azimio, at the very least should have the decency to abide by the five
issues agreed at the meeting.
Ichungwa detailed that they have nominated the Kenya Kwanza team as agreed which comprised of the following;-
- Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah- Leader of Majority, National Assembly & Team Leader.
- Sen. Aaron Cheruiyot – Leader of Majority, Senate
- Hon. Governor Cecily Mbarire
- Hon. Hassan Omar.
- Hon. Catherine Wambilianga.
This team is said to be mandated to engage on the five point agenda agreed upon namely;-
a) The Reconstitution of the IEBC Commission
b) Implementation of 2/3 gender rule,
c) Entrenchment of Constituency Development Fund,
d) Establishment and the entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition,
e) Embedment of the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary. For the avoidance of doubt.
Ichungwa added that as agreed, violence shall no longer and shall never be part of their nation’s political discourse.
“As agreed, there shall be no discussion of whatever nature on matters handshake or “nusu mkate.” “
