In a major breakthrough for law enforcement, detectives from the DCI Kenya have successfully apprehended a notorious gang associate, known for his role in mobile phone snatch operations across Mombasa. Ian Mahad, who operates under the alias Suleiman, was captured by officers at a motorcycle shop in the CBD (Central Business District) of Mombasa while purchasing a new bike.

The arrest comes after Mahad’s previous motorcycle was set ablaze by enraged locals during his theft spree last Saturday. The gang, infamous for snatching mobile phones from unsuspecting bystanders in areas such as Bamburi, Nyali, and Kadzandani, had been eluding the police for weeks, terrorizing residents.

The DCI‘s coordinated operation did not stop there. Detectives expanded their efforts to a hideout near Kadzandani Primary School, where they recovered a motorcycle, registration number KMGG 228X, along with an Oppo mobile phone and other items. While Mahad was apprehended, other members of the gang managed to escape, and the DCI Kenya continues to intensify its search for the remaining suspects.
