TSC Internship Vacancies 2025: Key Details

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially announced the opening of the application portal for 24,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher internship vacancies set for August 2025.

Applicants can now apply online through the official TSC portal: hrmis.tsc.go.ke.

This recruitment aims to address the shortage of teachers in Junior Secondary Schools and support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

STEM Teachers Favored with 65 Marks

One of the most discussed aspects of this recruitment is the marks allocation system. According to the new guidelines, teachers applying to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics will be awarded 65 marks—the highest among all teaching categories.

This allocation gives STEM teachers an upper hand in the competitive process. In contrast, Mathematics and non-science subjects attract 55 marks, while technical and creative arts subjects are given 40 marks.

Education analysts say this decision reflects Kenya’s strategic focus on strengthening STEM education to prepare learners for careers in innovation, health, ICT, and engineering.
