Vihiga, Kenya – A gruesome discovery at Evojo Primary School in Sabatia Subcounty, Vihiga County, has left residents in shock and sparked national outrage after mutilated human remains were found dumped inside a school pit latrine.
The unidentified body, which was discovered by a pupil on Monday morning, was found missing its torso — a chilling detail that has intensified the mystery surrounding the incident. According to authorities, the pupil had gone to use the toilet when they noticed a strange odor and alerted teachers, leading to a horrifying find.
Detectives and forensic teams were called in to retrieve the body. The operation took several hours as officers were forced to bring in an excavator to dismantle the entire latrine structure in order to access and retrieve the body parts.
Vihiga County Police Commander confirmed that the torso was missing and investigations are underway to determine the identity of the deceased and the possible cause of death. “We are treating this as a possible murder and are pursuing all leads,” said the officer.
The school administration, visibly shaken, has since closed the institution indefinitely. “We have suspended learning activities to ensure the safety and mental well-being of our pupils and staff,” said the school headteacher. Counseling sessions have also been organized for the pupil who made the gruesome discovery and other affected students.
The incident has triggered a wave of fear among parents and the local community, who are now questioning the safety of their children in schools. “This is beyond shocking. How did a body end up in a school toilet?” asked one concerned parent during a community meeting held near the school.
As the investigation continues, police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in identifying the victim or shedding light on how the body ended up at the school.
This horrific discovery now places Evojo Primary School at the center of a disturbing mystery that has gripped Sabatia Subcounty and beyond.
