Chaos erupted at the National Assembly on 3rd May 2023 after Adan Keynan recognises Sabina Chege as the Jubilee Party leader.
However, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi stated that Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was still the leader of the Jubilee Party.
Wandayi remarked that Uhuru was in charge of the party, which was the ruling political outfit until the August 2022 General Election.
He affirmed that no one, can take that position from former head of state since proper channels had not been followed to oust him from his position.
Wandayi stated that the only thing he know is that the official leader of the Jubilee Party which is an affiliate of Azimio la Umoja is none other than His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
The statement from Wandayi gathered chaotic boos, which soon escalated when Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan stood on the point of Order and announced Nominated MP Hon. Sabina Chege as the true leader of the Jubilee Party.
“Mr Speaker, is it in order for Honourable Wandayi to mislead this House that Mr Uhuru Kenyatta is the Party Leader of Jubilee when we know that we made a decision and our Party Leader is Honourable Sabina Chege?” Keynan questioned.
This resulted to Chao that was witnessed in the house.
The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula raised his voice in an attempt to bring the house to order.
Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi was forced out of the chambers after going against Wetangula’s Order.
