TSC response to interns over planned demonstration.
An alleged letter from Kilifi North Sub County Director of Education in response to Teacher Service Commission intern teachers plan to demonstrate has caused worries amongst interns.
According to details from the letter to a teacher who didn’t want to be named, the letter from Educational sub county boss was in response letter dated 1st, December 2023.
The letter asks the intern teacher to note that he signed an internship agreement on 30″ January, 2023 as an individual, after reading and understanding carefully the terms and conditions of the contract.
The letter continued to details that “TSC Kilifi Nortlh Sub County also inducted all interns on the legal provisions as stipulated in the constitution of Kenya 2010, code of regulation for teachers (CORT 2015), code of conduct and ethics (COCE 2015). The TSC Act of 2012 and the Basic Education Act of 2012.”
The Education officer directed that teachers should raise their issues using the “laid down rule” and not the social media platforms.
“You are therefore advised to use the laid down structure to air your grievances in future and not on social media platforms as TSC is a professional body.’
The Education sub county boss warned that should the teacher perpetuate this behaviour; the Commission will not hesitate to take a stern disciplinary measure against them.
Teachers have also been directed to write a “show cause letter” on incitement.
