The opposition Chief Raila Amolo Odinga has called up the Monday protest after president Ruto extended his hand for dialogue.
While issuing his statement, the opposition Chief pointed out that President Ruto has issued what he regard as an important statement since the election. He noted that they met and listened to a diverse group of Kenyans including religious leaders about the crisis facing the country.
“Mr Ruto has asked me and Azimio to enter into a constitutional open-ended and biding dialogue with his govt to find a resolution to the issues that we in Azimio have raised over the last year’s elections and key governance and cost of living issues facing our country.” Said Odinga.
He added: “We have raised the key issues that we face as a country including the electoral injustice, the cost of living, the legitimacy of the IEBC, the opening of the server for a forensic audit, the savage attacks on the media and innocent civilians by the police.”
His remarks comes hours after president Ruto issued a press release accepting to dialogue.
“I have carefully listened to the issues raised by my friend Raila Odinga. In times like these, it is not about who is right or who is wrong. Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak but it is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” Ruto said in a statement.
