In a significant breakthrough, detectives from the DCI Headquarters have arrested Benard Ngugi Mbau, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a yet-to-be-identified middle-aged woman on December 25, 2024, in Nakuru.
The suspect had gone into hiding after allegedly committing the brutal act according to DCI post on X platform formerly Twitter.
Chilling Details of the Murder
On the fateful day, Benard, who was employed in Ngomongo Village within Rurii Location, is accused of committing a heinous crime. According to reports, he allegedly gouged out the woman’s eyes, severed her mammary glands, and inflicted multiple deep wounds on her head and abdomen. He then stuffed her remains in a sack and fled his staff quarters residence.
The discovery was made when his employer visited the staff quarters and found a blood-soaked sack, a hammer, and a knife submerged in a bucket filled with red-colored water. The employer immediately reported the matter to Workers Police Patrol Base, triggering a swift response from DCI Nakuru homicide detectives.
The Hunt and Arrest
The victim’s remains were transferred to Nakuru Annex Hospital Mortuary, while an intensive search for the 25-year-old suspect began. After days of relentless efforts, detectives from DCI Kenya tracked down Benard at Tumaini Shopping Centre in Nyandarua County.
Next Steps in the Investigation
Benard is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation and other police procedures. Authorities have confirmed that he will face charges once investigations are complete.
