Nairaland, a popular Nigerian blog owned by Seun Osewa is back online after being brought down by cloudflare over an abuse.
In a statement on his X platform formerly twitter, Oseun apologised to his fans and Advertisers over the inconvenience caused. He says the Nairaland’s server was taken down by their host’s abuse team because of an abuse report that wasn’t attended to on time.
Seun noted that after the error had been rectified, the server was brought back for a few minutes, but the host “decided to take the server down again.”
Since then, Seun says, his team, “haven’t heard from the abuse team, yet the support team keeps insisting that only the abuse team can help us”.
He says they had to transfer Nairaland to a “temporary host in order to bring it back to you”.
He defined the process as, “a very time-consuming” adding that they “are not fully back,” even though most features of the site are working.
He detailed that they “still have a long way to go.” And “downtime is likely” while encouraging his fans not “let it alarm you.”
He revealed that there’s a lot more to say, but “I have to go back to work to ensure that” their return is permanent.
Seun Apologize Nairaland Downtim.
“Please forgive us for the stress we caused. We appreciate the love and support that you showed us during the ordeal.”
Adding: “Nairaland is too important for us to let this happen again.”
Hours after the site had been brought down, Suen posted “Dear Nairaland members & advertisers, I’m very sorry for this unacceptable, ill-timed outage.”
He detailed that his “neglect of Nairaland is directly responsible.” Of the the downtime.
“I was also unprepared to move to a new host at a moment’s notice after 9 years with the current host. The process is ongoing but slow.”
