According to reports, thika West detectives are currently holding the suspected transformer vandaliser after suspected stolen properties of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), believed to have been vandalized within the Makongeni area of Kiambu County were found in his home.
The man, 27 years old, has been identified as Denis Karanja.
He is believed to be part of a wider gang of vandals who, according to DCI, lurk in poorly lit streets, before vandalizing transformers for the coveted oil and cables, and, consequently leaving the local wananchi in darkness for weeks.
