Mombasa TikToker Arrested for Inciting Violence in Viral Clip

Mombasa, Kenya – August 5, 2025 – Detectives have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, popularly known as “Hon. Mosquito,” for allegedly creating and circulating a seditious TikTok video threatening violence and public unrest. The inflammatory clip, posted on August 1, sparked nationwide alarm, prompting a swift crackdown by security agencies.

Acting on forensic leads, law enforcement officers tracked Okindo to his hideout in Miritini, Mombasa County, where he was swiftly apprehended. A search of his residence uncovered disturbing items, including:

  • Two pairs of tactical combat fatigues
  • A notebook with radical writings (including the phrase: “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes”)
  • Three mobile phones (believed to contain evidence)
  • Documents linked to the banned Justice Direction Party
