High Court pronounce itself on CA move to censure 6 TV station.

The Communication Authority Of Kenya has been delt a huge blow after Court quashed it’s move to censure 6 TV station while covering Azimio’s demonstration.

In a statement, the High Court notes that the case filed by Katiba Institute, Law Society of Kenya and journalist unions raises weighty issues.
The suspension comes days after CA, CEO Ezra Chiloba called out the 6 TV station for covering live streaming of Azimio’s demonstration especially sections that could trigger violence in the country.

Among the six TV stations includes Citizen TV, KBC, KTN, NTV, TV47 etc.

”While the Authority promotes the freedom of the press, it is imperative that all broadcasters exercise caution in live broadcast coverage to avoid scenes that would be detrimental to peace and cohesion,” – Said Ezra Chiloba in a statement.

He noted that the coverage by the said stations depicted scenes that could cause panic or incitement to the public, threatening peace & cohesion in the country. The CA, in line with the law, has written to the six media houses to take remedial actions.
