EACC Secures Land Worth Millions

In other news, EACC recovered public land valued at Ksh30 million near State House, Mombasa. The parcel, initially reserved for government staff, had been fraudulently allocated to private entities.

Justice Nelly Matheka of the Mombasa Environment and Land Court declared the transactions illegal and restored the land to the government. The private parties involved were ordered to pay Ksh5 million in damages.

Additionally, EACC reclaimed land valued at Ksh300 million in Kisumu County. Properties include seven acres belonging to Victoria Primary School, land owned by Kenya Railways Corporation, and a road reserve in Milimani.

The Kisumu land grab, estimated at Ksh10 billion, saw individuals, including a law firm, sell parcels meant for public use. EACC is working to recover more land tied to Kenya Prisons, Lake Basin Development Authority, and other government entities.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi urged potential buyers to conduct due diligence, warning against transactions with land cartels.
