The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, made a high-profile visit to the Traffic Training School Ngong and the National Police Leadership Academy.
The purpose of the DIG Eliud Lagat visit was to assess the readiness of the institutions to host upcoming Kenya Police Service training programs. During the inspection at the Traffic Training School, he identified several facilities requiring urgent improvements. He ordered that the issues be addressed within set timelines to guarantee smooth commencement of training and capacity-building courses.
Aside from inspecting infrastructure, DIG Lagat also engaged with police athletes in Kenya who are currently training in Ngong. He encouraged them to train harder, maintain discipline, and remain focused on achieving excellence in national, regional, and international competitions. “We believe in your ability to represent the service and the country with pride,” he told the athletes, while pledging his support to ensure their success.
Later, the DIG proceeded to the Ngong Police Academy, officially known as the National Police Leadership Academy, where he was received by the Commandant, Mr. David Kainga, AIG. The academy plays a critical role in shaping future leaders within the Kenya Police Service, and the visit underscored Lagat’s commitment to strengthening leadership development and professional policing standards in the country.
The DIG Eliud Lagat visit was marked by the presence of top security chiefs, highlighting its importance. Accompanying him were the Principal Deputy to the DIG-KPS, Mr. Patrick Tito, SAIG; GSU Commandant, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG; National Police College Main Campus Commandant, Mr. Nyale Munga, SAIG; Traffic Commandant, Mr. Fredrick Ochieng, AIG; OC Sports Vigilance, Mr. Isaac Sang, CP; Kajiado County Police Commander, Mr. Alexander Shikhondi, CP; NPC Main Campus Adjutant, Mr. Daniel Kipkemboi, SSP; Kajiado West Sub-County Police Commander, Mr. Tom Achiya, SSP; and the DIG’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Patrick Kithure, ASP, among other senior officers.
The Kenya Police Service training programs at both the Traffic Training School and the Ngong Police Academy are expected to play a vital role in building capacity, enhancing professionalism, and preparing officers for modern security challenges. DIG Lagat’s presence reinforced the service’s commitment to discipline, sports excellence, and leadership development.
