CS Kindiki move to process 42K pending passport backlog within 21hours.

The Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced procession of backlog passport within 21 hours.

He says that after the process is done, any passport should be done within 7 days of the application.

The emergency one, which include medication and education services will be prioritized.

“To unlock the backlog within the Immigration department, I have directed that the 42,000 pending passport applications be processed within 21 hours.”

“Thereafter, all applications must be processed within 7 days. In emergency situations for applicants seeking medical and educational services, such applications must be considered and processed within 24 hours.” The Interior CS said in a statement.

Kindiki has asked for patiency among those seeking help at immigration department while laying blame on the faulty printing equipment.

“I plead for patience from all those seeking services at the Immigration department. Within 7 days, the faulty printing equipment will be fixed.”.

Adding, ” 60,000 booklets were delivered last Friday and will be used to deal with the backlog of 42,000 passport applications.”
