Body of tweacher drowned retrieved – Mumias

The body of a teacher who drowned in river has been retrieved.

He was a teacher at St. Peter Mumias boys of Kakamega County.

Teacher Joseph Ayoti Osuka drowned in an accident on a bridge across the Lusumu River on Sunday.

According to the standard media reports, the teacher’s body was found after nearly a week of searching in Shikufu, east of Mumias.

Police said Ayoti, a former teacher at Butere girls’ high school in Butere, hit a primary school teacher who was riding a motorcycle on the Butere-Mumias road at night and killed him instantly and his car, a Toyota Premio, plunged into the river.

A woman, believed to be homeless on a motorcycle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and treated by a Good Samaritans.

Eye witness with the knowledge of the accident noted that: “I was there when the acident occurred. He was speeding and he hit a motorcyclist from behind. The man died while the woman he was carrying sustained serious injuries, and we rushed her to hospital.”
