Police shot dead a Tharaka Nithi Bodaboda Chairman.

It is outrageous as police in Tharaka Nithi allegedly shot dead a county Bodaboda chairman during demonstration over dead of colleague.

The man shot is identified as Kiragu who is described as humble.

police are blamed for using live bullet on demonstrators instead of teargas.

The Bodaboda Association is now calling on the interior CS Kithure Kindiki, DCI_Kenya, IPOA_KE and @NPSOfficial_KE to ensure justice is served.

“Police in Tharaka shot dead our county Bodaboda chairman, @KindikiKithure @DCI_Kenya @IPOA_KE @NPSOfficial_KE we demand for justice. Kiragu was a humble man. When pple demonstrate use teargas not live bullets The officer must face the law.” Bodaboda Association said in a statement.

Kiragu was among the demonstrator in Chuka who were demonstrating against the killing of Mutembei Ngai last week by known people yet they are still walking freely.

Transport along Nairobi- Embu – Meru highway was paralyzed at Chuka Town, Main Stage as locals angaged police in a running battle.

According to information gathered, police were overpowered and left the locals to barricade roads.

The interior CS Kithure Kindiki has since dispatched an investigative team on ground.

“Tonight, high- level investigative teams have been dispatched to Chuka Town to take over enquiry and recommend legal action on those found responsible for the death of one person last week as well as a second person shot dead during the demonstrations that caused the blocking of the Embu- Meru Highway most of the afternoon today.” Kindiki said in a statement.

He added: “Any person(s) at whom evidence will point shall face the course of justice. Condolences to the families and friends of the two deceased persons and to the affected communities. Residents are urged to remain calm and allowimpartial investigations following which prosecution shall ensue.”
