US Embassy Reacts on attack against journalists during Azimio’s protest.

The United State of America Embassy to Kenya has commented on the attack of Journalists during the Azimio La Umoja one Kenya Alliance Thursday protest.

In a statement, Meg Whitman, who is the US Ambassador to Kenya says the United States is deeply concerned by recent reports of attacks against journalists.

In her twitter post, Meg Whitman stressed on protection of media freedom saying it is a cornerstone of democracy.

“The United States is deeply concerned by recent reports of attacks against journalists. Protecting press freedom and safety is a cornerstone of democracy.” Said Meg Whitman.

Her remarks comes hours after the attack on NTV, and Citizen TV journalists as they cover up the Azimio’s protest.

Their camera were allegedly destroyed in an attempt to cover up the police brutality.


Over 25 journalists, according to Media Council of Kenya have been reportedly assaulted since the start of protest.

Some of the journalists were admitted following the injuries inflicted on them.
