The former Nairobi Gov’ Hon Mike Mbuvi Sonko has reacted after the Migori gunshot victim thanked him.

In a long Twitter post, Sonko narrated:

“I’m really touched by what is happening to some of our Kenyan youths on the streets during demonstrations.

I remember very vividly in 2017 when we had similar demonstrations I had to personally cater for medical bills of some youths here in Nairobi, Migori and Kisumu who were forgotten in various hospitals with very huge bills due to serious gunshots or panga cut wounds. As the Good Deeds Ambassador and Patron of Sonko Rescue team I cannot watch as people struggle.

Despite being in Kenya kwanza I’m still willing to pay for hospital bills for all the injured youth so that they can go back to their families, I know there are so many poor families which cannot afford to meet the burial expenses of any of their loved one’s, but I will still help bring home those who have lost their lives back to their families so that they can bury them as I support the children and widows left behind.

But why exactly are we letting ourselves get into this and how many promising youth do we have to lose and will keep on losing every Monday and Thursday? How many mothers wait for their children at home in vain? How many young women remain widows? How many children lose their parents? Vijana hebu chanukeni fikirieni about your families.
