Outrage in Thika: Del Monte Guard Kills Youth Over Pineapples

Thika, Kenya – Tensions flared in Thika after a young man was shot dead by Del Monte security guards for allegedly stealing pineapples from the company’s farm. Enraged residents retaliated by burning down one of the company’s vehicles, demanding justice for what they claim is a pattern of excessive force by the guards.

Deadly Confrontation Sparks Fury

According to locals, the victim was caught taking pineapples when guards opened fire, killing him on the spot. Witnesses say this is not the first time Del Monte’s security has used lethal force against suspected thieves.

“Why can’t the company just install electric fences instead of killing people over pineapples?” one resident shouted as protesters blocked roads near the farm.

Residents Take Matters Into Their Own Hands

Angry crowds swiftly mobilized, setting a Del Monte vehicle ablaze in retaliation. Police were deployed to contain the unrest, but tensions remain high as residents vow to continue protests until justice is served.
