In a move to pay tribute to the victims of recent floods across the country, President Ruto had officially declared Friday, May 10th, 2024, as National Tree Growing Day.

This initiative aimed to honor the lives lost and raise awareness about environmental conservation efforts amidst rising concerns about climate change impacts.

The decision was made following a tragic series of floods that claimed several lives and caused significant damage.

The President’s declaration, gazetted on Wednesday, encourages citizens nationwide to participate in tree planting activities as a symbolic gesture of remembrance and resilience.

In response to this national initiative, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has urged all its employees to actively engage in tree planting activities on National Tree Growing Day.

This call to action aims to mobilize TSC staff to contribute positively to the environment and commemorate those affected by the recent floods.

“Following the gazettement of Friday 10th May 2024 as the National Tree Growing Day in honour of flood victims, all Commission employees are encouraged to join in the efforts of growing trees.
