A morning commute turned into a nightmare near Vi-Makutano after a devastating accident claimed the lives of five people. The tragedy unfolded on Sunday, September 14th, when two miraa-carrying Probox vehicles, allegedly racing and overtaking each other on a dangerous corner, collided.
The impact was immediate and fatal. A boda boda rider and one of the Probox drivers were killed instantly at the scene near Zetic Hospital. In a heartbreaking turn of events, three other victims succumbed to their injuries while fighting for their lives in the emergency room. The final death toll includes the two drivers, the boda boda operator, and two female passengers.
This horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the Mwea community. Overtaking on a corner is a lethal gamble that has, in this case, resulted in an unimaginable loss for five families. The community is now left to mourn this profound tragedy and call for greater road safety awareness to prevent such needless loss of life in the future.
