Transferring vehicle ownership can be a smooth process, but many motor vehicle owners in Kenya are making common mistakes that delay their transactions. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has highlighted several errors that applicants frequently make during the transfer process.

One of the most common issues is uploading incorrect documents. Many applicants submit a logbook that belongs to a different vehicle, provide a copy instead of a scanned coloured PDF of the original logbook, or upload defaced or illegible logbooks. Some even submit unrelated documents like payment invoices or newspaper cuttings instead of the required logbook scan.

Another frequent mistake is capturing the wrong new owner details. Applicants often enter their own personal information instead of the new buyer’s details, which can cause significant delays in the transfer process.

To avoid these pitfalls, NTSA advises motor vehicle owners to double-check all documents and information before submitting their applications. The transfer of ownership services are accessible through the E-Citizen platform and typically take three working days to process.

For further assistance, vehicle owners can contact NTSA via info@ntsa.go.ke or visit the nearest NTSA office or Huduma center. Ensuring accuracy in your application can save you time and hassle, making the vehicle transfer process much smoother.
