The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has unveiled the Draft Traffic (School Transport) Rules 2025, proposing strict new measures for school transport providers. The rules aim to improve the safety of children, making it mandatory for school vehicles to have qualified attendants.

Key Requirements for School Vehicle Attendants

According to the proposed guidelines, vehicle attendants must meet specific qualifications, ensuring they are fit to oversee the safety of children.

  1. PSV Conductor License
All school vehicle attendants must possess a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) conductor license issued by NTSA. Transport providers can verify the status of licenses using the NTSA driving license check tool to ensure compliance.
  2. Annual Criminal Record Assessments
Attendants must undergo annual criminal record assessments to identify any convictions for child abuse or arrests involving violent behavior. Those found with such records will be disqualified immediately.
