The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has rolled out a simplified process for National and County government entities to apply for the new generation reflective number plates. These plates, introduced to enhance road safety and curb fraud, are now mandatory for official government vehicles.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Step 1: Log In to eCitizen
Start by logging into your eCitizen account and selecting the NTSA Service Portal (New). On the top right corner, switch to the organization’s account, select the motor vehicle, and click on View.
Step 2: Apply for Reflective Plates
Next, click Motor Vehicle Services, then select Reflective Plate. Choose your preferred plate type and counter collection office. Ensure you attach all required colored documents in a single PDF file before proceeding.
Step 3: Payment and Collection
Scroll down, check the declaration box, and click Preview. Submit your application, pay the fee of Ksh. 3,050, and click Complete. Once processed, NTSA will send a collection notification via SMS.
Processing Timeline
According to NTSA, the plates will be ready for collection within seven (7) working days.
With the rollout of these reflective plates, the government aims to strengthen vehicle identification, promote security, and enhance compliance with traffic regulations.
