Senator Cherargei at war with KQ over hiring of foreigners.

The Nandi county senator Hon. Samson Cherargei has hit out the Kenya Airways Authority over hiring of foreignera instead of locals.

Cherargei says their are qualified who haven’t been given a chance.

“Why is KQ hiring foreigners while qualified Kenyans haven’t being given a chance.” Said Cherargei.

Cherargei faulted the Kenya Airways Authority saying foreigners are appointed without advertisement and interview being.

“Foreigners are appointed with no advertising no interviews paid to date over 6 B with nothing to show.” Claimed Cherargei.

He added: “Stear group, Seabury, Mackenzie, Polish 5 etc while Kenyans are jobless &. Country has no money yet we continue to bail out KQ using Kenyans tax payers money.

“Its dangerous for strategic national security and economic interests. How can a foreigner be more passionate & patriotic than Kenyans?” Questioned Cherargei.

The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc (“KQ”) appointmented Mr. Christopher James Buckley as a Director of the Company to fill a casual vacancy and to hold office until the next Annual General Meeting.

“This announcement is made pursuant to Regulation G.05 () (b) of the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing and Disclosures) Regulations 2002, promulgated under the Capital Markets Act.” The letter from the body read.

“The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc (“KQ”) wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher James Buckley as a Director of the Company to fill a casual vacancy and to hold office until the next Annual General Meeting.

The KQ board believes that Mr Christopher will bring his immense experties to use and bring back the Kenya Airways into a profitable enterprise.

Mr. Buckley brings to Kenya Airways Plc over four decades of wide-ranging experience in the commercial aviation business.

His career has included time working for an airline in Martinique, French West Indies, commercial and management positions with de Havilland Canada in Toronto, and senior management positions with Airbus in Toulouse, where retired in 2020, as the Executive Vice President, responsible for all of Airbus’s business, commercial strategy and customers relations in Europe, Asia and the Pacific.

The KQ board hailed Christopher, saying he has buit top-level relationships across the industry and been intimately involved in the fleet and network planning process with many major airlines worldwide.

Mr. Buckley has served on the boards of several companies over the years, including connectivity specialist OnAir, majority owned by SITA; Nordic Aviation Capital, the largest lessor of regional aircraft worldwide; EFW, majority owned by ST Aerospace in Singapore: and Emerald Airlines, an Aer Lingus franchise carrier based in Dublin.

According to reports, Christopher is a founding shareholder at Emerald Airlines. In 2018, Mr. Buckley was honoured to be awarded the ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National de Mérite’ by the French government, for services to France.

Mr. Buckley has both British and Canadian citizenship and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and French from Aston University in Birmingham, England.

The Board congratulated and welcomed Mr. Buckley to Kenya Airways and wishes him the best in his new role.
