Ruto Promots Gen. Ogolla to Chief of Defense Force, other 9 promoted.

Lt. Gen. Francis Omondi Ogolla is Kenya’s new Chief of Defence Forces, after being promoted to the rank of General.
Ogolla, who is the former fighter pilot at the United States Airforce (USAF), joined the Kenya Defence Forces on 24 April 1984 and became the Kenya Airforce Commander on 15 July 2018, will replace General Robert Kibochi whose term of service has come to an end after 44 years of military service.

“His Excellency Dr. William Ruto. President of the Republic of Kenya, and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, pursuant to Section 9 (2). (a) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act, has today promoted Lieutenant General Francis Omondi Ogolla to the rank of General and appointed him Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF).” President Ruto said in a statement.

Prior to this appointment General Francis Omondi Ogolla was reportedly the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces.

“General Francis Omondi Ogolla replaces General Robert Kariuki Kibicho whose term of service has honourably come to an end after 44 years of illustrious military carcer.”

The President has also appointed Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi as the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF).

Prior to this appointment Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi was the Vice Chancellor, National Defence University – Kenya. Major General Said Farah takes over from Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi as Vice Chancellor, National Defence University-Kenya.

Further. on the advice of the Defence Council. chaired by Hon Aden Duale. Secretary for Defence, which met today, the President upheld the Defence Council’s recommendations, and made various promotions, postings and officers as follows:
