Police in Muranga County have had since Friday last week, arrested and/or arraigned in Court, 100 people in connection with dealing with illicit brews and/or drugs; according to the National Police Service NPS reports.
In it statement via twitter, NPS noted that police have equally seized over 5,000 litres of chang’aa, over 1000 litres of Kangara, and 100 crates of assorted alcoholic counterfeit drinks.
“The National Police Service would like to caution the public that most of the local brews contain chemicals that are harmful for human consumption.” A statement from police reads in part.
During the raid, rhe multi-agency team also uncovered an illegal alcohol packaging operation at a residential area. They recovered 80 litres of Ethanol, 460 pieces of Cryten, 200 pieces of Chrome Vodka and other assorted alcoholic drinks.
Other items recovered, according to Police, were 2 improvised plastic distiller drums, a roll of counterfeit excise stamps and assorted empty bottles.
Police hailed members of the general public for providing vital information that led to a successful operation.
“We laud the members of public for their cooperation with the multi-agency team in this operation.”
