Mr. Douglas Kanja, EBS, OGW has this morning been sworn in as the Deputy Inspector General- Kenya Police Service at a brief ceremony held at the Supreme Court Grounds and presided over by the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Hon. Lady Justice Martha Koome – NPS reports.
Also present was the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Japhet Koome, DIG APS, Mr. Noor Gabow, and Director DCI, Mr. Mohamed Amin.
An armourer by profession, Mr. Kanja served as the Chief Armourer for the Kenya Police Service from 2005 to 2013, Deputy Commandant Kenya Airports Police Unit, and until his appointment yesterday by His Excellency the President, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, he was the Commandant General Service Unit where he has served since 2018.
Mr. Kanja has led multiple security Operations including ‘Rejesha Amani’ in Marsabit and Isiolo, and Operation’ Fagia Msitu’ in Boni Forest.
He replaced Mr. Edward Njoroge Mbugua who retired last month after serving the Kenya Police Service for 46 years.
