Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sharply criticized the government over escalating cases of abductions and arbitrary arrests, citing the controversial detention of Savannah Clinker Chairman Benson Ndeta. Speaking during a church service at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Nakuru, Kalonzo, joined by fellow opposition leaders, condemned the Kenya Kwanza administration for fostering what he called a culture of harassment and governance failures.
Kalonzo accused the government of targeting successful businesspeople under the guise of promoting the affordable housing agenda, claiming its actions are driven by ulterior motives.
“This conflict revolves around affordable housing. Some people are salivating over how they can control companies. A well-established Kenyan businessman succeeded, and they want to crush him. They don’t want him to acquire this industry,” Kalonzo said.
He further warned that the rising trend of abductions is pushing the nation into a governance crisis, urging all Kenyans to stand up against these practices.
“This is why we’re saying the next maandamano won’t be Gen Z alone but Gen Zote. Kenyans are fed up. Tax collection is happening, but half of the money seems to go into private pockets. Wakenya are okay with paying taxes, but not for it to disappear through shady systems like e-Citizen. We will actively resist letting the country spiral downward,” he vowed.
Other opposition leaders, including Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, echoed Kalonzo’s sentiments, urging the government to uphold the rule of law and curb corruption.
“Let us be a nation governed by the rule of law, not the rule of lies. Stop abductions, stop corruption,” Wamalwa emphasized.
The opposition leaders also called on religious leaders to take a stand against governance issues, urging collective prayers and action to restore accountability and integrity in leadership.
