Form one placement for the 2024 is now completed after the Ministry of Education releases it.
Students who sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) can now know the secondary schools they are placed to join in January 2024.
The Education CS Hon Ezekiel Machogu who presided over the 2024 Form One placement at Lenana School on Monday, noted that the placements were done according to candidate choices and other criteria.
The CS noted that some students were placed in schools of equivalent standing outside their counties. “This includes those from counties with inadequate capacity,”
This implies that some candidates will move to secondary schools within their counties, or outside.
Ezekiel Machogu further assured that Gov’t is committed to seeing a full transition to secondary schools, disclosing that the fees for day and boarding schools will remain unchanged.
He said that “Gov’t upholds its commitment to providing free day secondary education which includes allocation for tuition and operation expenses.”
“The fees charged in secondary schools will remain unchanged in 2024. Schools will continue to receive funds based on accurate enrolment data,”
The CS further urged parents and guardians to download placement letters directly, and “not through middlemen.”
He said candidates will this time round access placement results through the Ministry of Education website.
On the Ministry of Education’s website, students will then search Form One placements. This will take them to the Form One selection page, where they can finally access the placement results.
The results can also be found directly through the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS), by clicking this link here.
Candidates will also download forms which has Form One joining instructions from the KEMIS website.
The CS noted that the “website has been tested and proven and is 100% accurate. It is in operation,”
FORM ONE SELECTION: PS Belio Kipsang on capitation.
The Principal Secretary PS for Basic Education Belio Kipsang who was present at the event revealed the ongoing efforts with the National Treasury to hasten first-term capitation payments for school reopening in January 2024.
Belio detailed that they are working with treasury to release capitation for schools, “let’s ensure that we are following regulations on fees, let’s be careful on communication, let’s live within framework that’s been given. Let’s not be in conflict with guide lines from the ministry,”
