The Gov’t spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has commented on the Gov’t position on Court Ruling about taking Kenya Police to Haiti.
In a statement to the press, Mwaura noted that the Government of Kenya takes note of the High court’s ruling regarding the deployment of the Kenya police to help in the Multi-national Security Support (MSS) mission for the restoration of law and order in Haiti.
He says, while the gov’t respects the rule of law, it has however made the decision to challenge the high court’s verdict forthwith.
He notes that Kenya has an outstanding track record of contributing to peace keeping missions internationally in countries such as; South Sudan, Namibia, Croatia, Liberia, Sierra Leone among others.
“The government reiterates its commitment in honoring its international obligations as a member of the community and comity of nations.” Read the statement from the Gov’t.
