In a dramatic turn of events, detectives are actively pursuing a 29-year-old suspected violent robber and drug trafficker in Meru County, following a significant discovery at his residence. The suspect, identified as Geoffrey Thiranira, is now the subject of an intensive manhunt after law enforcement officers found a loaded AK47 rifle and a substantial quantity of bhang hidden in his house.
The operation, which was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics detectives with support from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit, took place in the Murunya area of Mutuati, Meru County. Acting on a tip-off, the detectives raided Thiranira’s two-bedroom house, anticipating his involvement in illicit activities. Their search yielded a loaded AK47 rifle with a magazine containing 20 live rounds, along with a bale of bhang strategically concealed in a chimney.
The discovery of these items underscores the severity of the allegations against Thiranira, linking him to both violent crime and drug trafficking. The presence of a high-powered weapon and a significant amount of drugs highlights the potential threat posed by the suspect to both local communities and law enforcement.
However, the operation did not go entirely as planned. Thiranira, seemingly aware of the impending police raid, managed to escape before the detectives could apprehend him. This unexpected turn has led to a vigorous manhunt, with officers determined to capture him and bring him to justice. The police have assured the public that efforts to locate and arrest Thiranira are being intensified, with all available resources being deployed to ensure his swift capture.
The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released a statement via their Twitter account, confirming the raid and subsequent findings.
