A Ugandan man, 33, is behind bars after he impersonated police officer.

According to a press release seen by K47 digital news team, territorial Police in Nakaseke are reportedly investigating the incident.

The incidence is reported to have taken place on Friday, September 1, 2023, around 1530 hours at the Semuto traffic checkpoint in Kikondo Zone, Nakaseke District.

Police says, the impersonator in question has been identified as Atwiine Allan, a 33-year-old male, residing in Busabala Zone, Makindaye Division, Kampala District.

“Preliminary findings indicate that on the mentioned date and time, Atwiine Allan arrived at the checkpoint and began impersonating a police officer, specifically claiming to be a Superintendent of Police attached to Katwe Division in Kampala Metropolitan.” The statement reads in part.

However, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Semuto is reported to have become suspicious and conducted a thorough interrogation.

Atwiine Allan eventually admitted to his impersonation, leading to his arrest, and a case of impersonation was formally registered.

Police noted that further inquiries into said matter are ongoing.

“We strongly appeal to the public to refrain from impersonating police officers, as such actions are subject to severe penalties.

“If anyone encounters such impersonation, we urge you to promptly report it to the nearest authorities.” Police added.
