Martha responds after Bungei ban protest.

The Azimio La Umoja DP Martha Karua has responded after Bungei Adamson banned Azimio’s protest.

While citing the constitution, Karua noted that they don’t require permission from anybody else, including police to hold a peaceful demonstration.

“We do not require permission from police or anybody else . Bungei and @PoliceKE @IG_NPS ought to know this . Kenya is a constitutional democracy not a dictatorship.” She said in a statement.

Karua detailed that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance saying kenyans of goodwill must resist with all their might introduction of dictatorship and abrogation of fundamental freedoms .

“We do not require permission from the police or anybody else to hold peaceful demonstrations,” Said Karua.

She accused Bungei and IG Japheth Koome for being source of violence.

“@IG_NPS @PoliceKE and Bungei are the sole source of violence in @Azimio__Kenya otherwise peaceful demonstrations #MaandanoTuesday.”

“Any law enforcement officer who acts contrary to the constitution will be held to account individually both locally and internationally as appropriate.” She affirmed.

She defended the Azimio team saying that there demonstration are Peaceful but police are to blame of brutality and use of live bullets to unarmed civilians.

“We in Azimio reject this convoluted narrative of violence . We are peaceful and all our demonstrations have been peaceful until a section of police introduce uncalled for brutality and use of excessive force including live bullets on unarmed civilians.”
