A disturbing video showing a white man hurling insults and spitting at Kenyan police officers inside Diani Police Station has gone viral, sparking outrage among Kenyans on social media.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Dutch national Elwin Ter Horst, was arrested on October 28, 2025, at a private cottage in Diani, Kwale County, after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, damaging property, and being found in possession of suspected cocaine.
According to police reports, Ter Horst became violent during his arrest and continued his unruly behavior at the station, where he was captured on video verbally abusing officers and spitting at one of them. The two-minute clip, now circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Facebook, shows the visibly intoxicated foreigner shouting expletives as officers attempt to calm him down.
Witnesses say the altercation began after a heated argument between the suspect and his girlfriend, which quickly escalated into physical violence. Concerned neighbors alerted authorities, leading to his arrest. Police also reportedly recovered small sachets of white powder believed to be cocaine from the scene.
Kwale County Police Commander Stephen Onyango confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect faces multiple charges, including assault, possession of narcotics, malicious damage to property, and disorderly conduct. “We will not tolerate anyone, regardless of nationality, who disrespects our officers or breaks the law,” Onyango said.
The video has reignited online conversations about how some foreigners mistreat local authorities and exploit Kenya’s hospitality. Many netizens have called for the Dutch national to face the full force of the law, while others urged the government to tighten immigration and drug enforcement laws in coastal areas popular with tourists.
Ter Horst remains in custody at Diani Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
Authorities have since urged the public to refrain from spreading the uncensored version of the video, citing ongoing investigations and privacy concerns.
As the viral video continues to draw attention both locally and internationally, many Kenyans are demanding justice—not only for the assaulted girlfriend but also for the insulted officers who maintained professionalism in the face of blatant disrespect.
