KNEC: KPSEA Results Set for Release Monday

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is scheduled to release the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results on Monday, January 6, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Education.

In a press release dated January 4, signed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos, parents were urged to check their children’s results immediately after the official portal is activated.

“The KPSEA learner reports will be available on school portals starting the week of January 6, 2025,” the statement read in part.

KPSEA serves as a crucial assessment for Grade 6 learners, reflecting the progress of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in primary education. The Ministry confirmed that the pioneer CBC cohort will transition to Grade 9 this term as planned.

Additionally, the Ministry reassured stakeholders that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results would be released within the first two weeks of January 2025.

The Ministry further announced that Term One of 2025 will span 13 weeks, including a 5-day midterm break. All schools are expected to reopen on Monday, January 6.

In 2024, the KPSEA exams attracted 1,313,913 candidates across 35,573 examination centres nationwide.

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to supporting a smooth transition for learners. “To guarantee a seamless move to Grade 9, the government has overseen the construction of 16,000 classrooms nationwide, with a 93% completion rate,” the statement noted.

For areas where construction is still ongoing, education officers and school heads have been directed to implement temporary measures to ensure the safety and comfort of learners.

Furthermore, the Ministry confirmed the delivery of 9,926,618 textbooks to schools across the country, with the distribution expected to conclude by Monday, January 6, 2025, to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.

Regarding school funding, the Ministry disclosed plans to disburse Ksh48.3 billion in capitation funds. Of this, 50% will be allocated in Term One, followed by 30% in Term Two, and the remaining 20% in Term Three.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely resource allocation and efficient infrastructure development to support quality education delivery.
