The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said Kenya has been peaceful since the last elections and that as Kenya’s “we remain so.”
In a statement via twitter, the second in command said the violence sponsored by Azimio leader Raila Odinga will not lure them to any imagined talks.
“There is no room for any dialogue with political thuggery since 1997.” said Gachagua.
Gachagua further detailed that it is crystal clear there was no demonstration on Monday.
“It was pure thuggery and looting of people’s property.” he said
“The church leaders are encouraging us to hold talks for the sake of peace. But we have had peace until the chaos sponsored by the opposition on Monday.”
He hit out at Azimio’s demonstration saying “It can’t be that after every electoral cycle, we are focusing on talks after a streak of violence and destruction of property by known political criminals.”
Gachagua has now asked the church to summon Odinga and talk to him in how to bring violence to a halt.
“The church ought to summon the opposition leader for talks on how to stop causing violence after losing elections.”
