2024 Trans-Nzoia County Secondary Schools Revised Sports Calendar Released: Key Dates and Events.

The Ministry of Education, State Department of Basic Education, in conjunction with the Trans-Nzoia County Secondary Schools Sports Association and the Rift Valley Region, has released the 2024 Sports Calendar. The calendar outlines various sporting events that will take place throughout the year.

The sports calendar begins with the Zonal Finals for Term 1 Games, which include Rugby 15’s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross Country, and Swimming. These finals will be held on the 16th and 17th of February in all zones.

Following the Zonal Finals, the Sub-County Finals for Term 1 Games will take place on the 23rd and 24th of February. Similar to the Zonal Finals, these finals will feature Rugby 15’s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross Country, and Swimming. The Sub-County Finals will be held in all sub-counties.

Next on the calendar are the County Finals for Term 1 Games, scheduled for the 8th and 9th of March. These finals will take place in Kwanza/Kiminini and will include Rugby 15’s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross Country, and Swimming. Participating schools in this event include St. Patrick’s, Ndura, Legacy, St. Monica’s, Kibomet, and St. Anthony’s.

Moving on to Term 1 Regional Finals, these games will be held from the 18th to the 23rd of March. The Regional Finals will feature Rugby 15’s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross Country, and Swimming. The host region for these finals is the Rift Valley, with Nandi County as the host county.

In April, the National Finals for Term 1 Games will take place from the 6th to the 14th. These finals will be held in the Eastern region, with Machakos County as the host county.

After the Term 1 Games, a workshop/clinic will be conducted from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June at St. Joseph’s Girls.

Moving on to Term 2 Games, the Zonal Finals will be held on the 7th and 8th of June. These finals will include Soccer, Volleyball, Netball, Rugby 7’s (boys and girls), Basketball 3×3, and Racquets. The Zonal Finals will take place in all zones.

The Sub-County Finals for Term 2 Games will be held on the 14th and 15th of June in all sub-counties. These finals will feature Soccer, Volleyball, Netball, Rugby 7’s (boys and girls), Basketball 3×3, and Racquets.

The County Finals for Term 2 Games will take place from the 5th to the 6th of July in Saboti. Participating schools in this event include Kitale School, Equip, Kitale Poly, Manor House Agricultural School, Tuyookony Secondary, and Prisons.

Following the County Finals, the Regional Finals for Term 2 Games will be held from the 16th to the 20th of July. These finals will take place in the Rift Valley region, with Bomet County as the host county.

Lastly, the Nationals for Term 2 Games will be held from the 27th of July to the 7th of August. The host region for these finals is Nyanza, with Kisii County as the host county.

In addition to the local competitions, the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) will be hosting an event from the 14th to the 25th of August in Uganda.

It is important to note that students born on or after 1st September 2004 are eligible to participate in K.S.S.S.A activities in the year 2024. Furthermore, eligibility for participation is governed by Article 11 of the K.S.S.S.A constitution, and students must have completed their KCPE exams no earlier than 2018.
