The former Mukurueni Mp Kabando Wakabando has questioned the Gov’t where freedom fighter, Dedan Kimathi’s remains were burried.
In a statement, the MP has questioned President Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and interior CS Kithure Kindiki viability of meeting top Britain official yet none raised the issue.
“Rais Ruto, DP Rigathi & Interior CS Kindiki have since Mama Mukami passed on met topmost British govt officials but none raised the issue of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi’s remains were buried after he was killed by colonial authorities. It’s BETRAYAL of Mukami’s, indeed OUR, wish.” Said Kabando.
Kabando stressed that Britain officially apologised on death caused by colonialists in Kenya.
Kabando says that Britain also gave compensation to affected Mau Mau fighters adding that they should also reveal Kimathi’s burial place.
“The British government officially apologised over atrocities colonial authorities meted on Kenyans. It also gave some token compensation after Mau Mau veterans lodged a case in London. Kibaki lifted the ban on Mau Mau. Britain should disclose the place they buried Dedan Kimathi.”
His remarks comes hours after the interior CS Kithure Kindiki, together with UK Security Minister Tom Tugendhat, visited and condoled with the family and friends of the late Mama Mukami Kimathi.
“Mama Mukami Kimathi, the widow of Kenya’s greatest freedom fighter, Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi, is a liberation icon whose contribution to the independence of our nation will remain indelible. The country and the world continue to mourn her.” Said Kindiki.
